I came accross this beautiful readings from some bulletin board. Thought that its nice and good to read for all ~
Everyone agrees that silk was discovered in China. But how did it came about ~
Legend has said that Lei Zu, the wife ofHuang D, the Yello Emperor, discovered silk making. This was over 2000 years ago.
The Story of Lei Zu was in her garden one day picking some cocoons from a mulberry tree. She eccidentally dropped one cocoon into her tea. When she pulled it out, she found it unwound into one long thin thread. Lei Zu worked out how to weave the thread into silk cloth. So that is how we get silk dresses today.
What can we learn from this??
The silkworm is a caterpillar which is 5 to 7 centimeters long. It crawls around mulberry plants, eating the leaves. We can all imagine the cocoon. It is what caterpillars turn into before they become moth of butterflies.
Imagine u and I walking arround the garden with a cup of tea in our hands. Imagine a silk worm cocoon dropping into our cup of tea. How will we react? Will we be upset because our tea is spoilt? Will we be angry that a dirty cocoon dropped into the cup? Will we throw everything out to the ground? Or will we, like Lei Zu, see the silk thread and wonder what we can do with it?
Unexpected things happen in our life, at home as well as in the office. Do we get upset? Do we get angry? Or do we wonder if there is something we can learn from it? Is there a benefit? Is there an opportunity? Is there something we can see which others cannot? So next time something unexpected happens, maybe we should open our eyes, open our ears, open our minds, open our hearts, think whether there is something we can gain from it. Next time you see a silk dress, think of how an accident can turn into something beautiful.
