Kontroversi pembatalan saman oleh Jabatan Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (Jawi) keatas penyanyi Jeslina Hashim, 27, berikutan penahanannya di sebuah pusat hiburan di Kuala Lumpur pada 13 Januari lalu kerana didakwa berkelakuan tidak sopan telah mendorong kerajaan menetapkan peraturan dalam membuat serbuan.
Menteri Di Jabatan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz mengumumkan Khamis bahawa mulai sekarang semua operasi serbuan oleh bahagian penguatkuasa Jabatan Agama Islam perlu mendapat kelulusan ketua polis daerah.
Beliau berkata serbuan yang dijalankan juga mesti disertai pegawai kanan polis.
Katanya, Kabinet membuat keputusan itu bagi memastikan serbuan-serbuan yang dijalankan lebih lancar dan teratur.
Beliau berkata demikian kepada pemberita di Bangunan Parlimen di Kuala Lumpur selepas menerima memorandum daripada beberapa pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) mengenai isu serbuan penguatkuasa Jabatan-jabatan Agama Islam.
Mohamed Nazri berkata langkah itu akan memastikan semua pihak dipertanggungjawabkan apabila berlaku sesuatu masalah atau kesilapan dalam serbuan.
"Perkara ini serius, kita tidak mahu Malaysia menjadi seperti Afghanistan semasa diperintah Taliban. Kalau ia tidak dihentikan, mungkin boleh berlaku," katanya.
Mohamed Nazri berkata beliau akan membincangkan dengan Kokus Palrimen Mengenai Hak Asasi Manusia mengenai memorandum itu yang menyentuh tentang peranan kerajaan mengawal moral rakyat.
Antara NGO yang mengemukakan momorandum itu ialah Suaram dan Sisters in Islam.
Dalam isu Jeslina yang menjadi bahan polimek, Jawi pada 15 Februari telah mengeluarkan surat pembatalan saman setelah dia dijadualkan didakwa di Mahkamah Syariah Kuala Lumpur pada 5 April depan di bawah Akta 29 Kelakuan Tidak Sopan.
Jeslina dan empat rakannya adalah antara ratusan remaja yang ditahan oleh anggota penguat kuasa Jawi ketika melakukan serbuan di sebuah pusat hiburan Kuala Lumpur. Inilah mereka yang membantah undang-undang 'moral' itu.
